Nocticadia by Keri Lake is a gothic, dark romance, academia standalone that has spice, a broody slightly mad professor with a dirty mouth, and such a beautifully written story.

Keri Lake is such an amazing author and this was the first book of hers I had read, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Her writing is so lyrical, and immersive, I feel as if I’m in the books witnessing it all.

This was my first true dark academia romance, and let me just say… the bar has officially been set HIGH.

She didn’t just give us suspense and mystery, she made even the darkest elements feel strangely beautiful.

And the MMC?? I will be thinking of that man for the rest of my reading career. Thank you for him Keri Lake, truly.

I also adored the FMC. She was likeable and her story pulled at my heart in a way that made you want to cry and pull out your investigation equipment and get to the bottom of her story.

It was sad, it was thrilling, it was enticing - and yes, absolutely, the spice do be SPICING.
